So you want to spice up your floor for your residents to make it a more interactive experience?! Well great! Because I have some ideas for you.
1. An inspiring surprise. Honestly, I came up with this idea when taking a shower. It was unplanned, but I thought it would be a sweet little surprise for my girls. So I wrote inspiring messages on post it notes all starting with "YOU are..." and filled in the blank with kind words. I then posted them on every mirror in the bathroom so my residents would see them the next morning.
2. An oldie but a goodie. I have seen this many other places, but I think it is a great way to engage your residents by making them think of what they need at that very moment in time, regardless if they actually take a note. I added the "pass it on" note as well and would find these post its stuck around our hall...so I would say mission accomplished!
3. A yummy snack for your residents. I thought this was fun and cute way to treat my residents in the middle of the semester around fall time. I went out and bought 3 bags of caramel apple lollipops, and would restock the board when all of the lollipops were gone! They went fast...rationing recommended.
4. Hall decorations made by residents! This was a crafty way to get residents involved. We got together and decorated puzzle pieces, and then pieced them all together. Yes, it is symbolic of the many pieces (aka people) that makeup our floor and community. But it also makes a very nice floor decoration!
5. The classic cut out snowflakes. This was a fun way to get my residents to reflect on what makes them unique. I made a bunch of little snowflakes, taped a pen to the board, and prompted my residents to write down what makes them unique. Fun, cute...win win win!
That's all for now folks. Semester is coming to an end, so that means a whole bunch of new ideas coming your way next semester.
